The days left to the start of the World Cup are numbered as teams are finalizing their final members for the squad that will partake in the tournament. Champions Trophy victors Pakistan recently suffered a humiliating whitewash against Australia but they are still optimistic over their chances in the world tournament considering their record in England in ICC competitions.
Ahead of the World Cup, Pakistan will be touring England to play 5 ODIs and a sole T20I. Among the list of 27 players for whom the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has applied visas for at the UK embassy, the inclusions of Wahab Riaz and Umar Akmal spell a surprise.
Interestingly, Akmal flopped in the 5-match series versus Australia but his presence in the squad is credited to his power hitting skills in the lower order. Meanwhile, Wahab has long been discarded out of the national setup but his return could bring in intriguing dynamics for the pace bowling department.
