Multan Sultans pacer Ali Shafiq immediately made a mark in his debut Pakistan Super League (PSL) game after he bamboozled the Islamabad United batsmen to register impressive bowling figures of 2/11. However, after playing another match, Shafiq unfortunately succumbed to a hamstring injury which ruled him out of the tournament.
Despite his exuberant performance in the PSL 4, Shafiq was nevertheless overlooked for selection in any of the squads for the Pakistan Cup. This has greatly demotivated the youngster, but he is still adamant at securing a berth in Pakistan’s national squad in the next 2-3 years.
“Not being included in the Pakistan Cup is a shock to the system but then I am only 22 years old so I have a fairly long way to go before I lose hope,” he spoke in a recent interview.
