In the 3rd match of the ongoing Pakistan Cup, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) emerged as the winner against the defending champions Federal Areas.
Ahmed Shahzad (56) and Israrullah (77) started the proceedings for Federal Areas and their significant opening partnership added 94 runs for the first wicket.
The middle order of Federal Areas couldn’t capitalize on the start given by the openers, however, Mohammad Nawaz (62) and Zia ul Haq (22 off 12) took the defending champions to 269-10 in 45.3 overs.
In reply, the start wasn’t good for KPK as they lost Salman Butt and Abid Ali early in the peace. After that, it was Mohammad Saad (65) and Adil Amin (70) who took the responsibility of chasing down the target of 270.
Khushdil Shah also chipped in with handy 40 runs off 56 balls but it was Sohail Khan’s cameo of 25 off 18 which took the game away from the Federal Areas. Sohail Khan smacked two sixes and a four to win the game for his side.
Also, the left arm paceman Wahab Riaz stamped his authority with a 5-wicket haul in his first match of the tournament and he's certainly knocking on the doors of the selection committee. Wahab took 5-52 in his 10 overs.
