One of the strongest teams of Pakistan’s domestic circuit the Habib Bank Limited (HBL) have decided to dissolve their cricket team and they will not be a part of Pakistan’s domestic structure from now onwards. HBL remained an integral part of the domestic scene for almost 43 years.
According to the official statement released by the bank on Wednesday, HBL wants to invest more in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) being its title sponsor.
“To continue to invest in HBLPSL, and in the larger interest of Cricket in Pakistan, HBL will redeploy its valuable resources from other avenues. This reinvestment will be partially achieved by parting ways with departmental cricket,” the statement said.
Their current squad was comprised of players like Imam ul Haq, Umar Akmal, Fakhar Zaman, Faheem Ashraf, Imran Farhat, Umar Gul, Abid Ali, Imran Farhat, Abdul Rehman, and Junaid Khan. HBL is the reigning champion of the biggest first-class tournament Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and Quaid-e-Azam One Day Cup.
