According to JS Jadeja, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Arothe was arrested along with 18 other persons for allegedly carrying out activities related to betting during Monday's IPL match between Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Capitals.

The former women's team coach has denied the allegations, saying he did not know why he was arrested and would not know if customers were placing bets at the cafe.

Arothe took over the reins of the Indian women's team in 2017 from Purnima Rao. During his tenure, the women's team had made it to the finals of the 2017 World Cup.
