Pakistani fast-bowler Wahab Riaz has not been able to get back into the national side after getting injured during the Champions Trophy in 2017 as the new entrants have cemented their places in the squad since then.
However, Wahab is most likely to feature in the World Cup squad this year as the team needs a quality left-armer who could swing the ball and exploit the English conditions to his advantage. His express pace and death bowling adds great value to the side.
The speedster was the second highest wicket-taker in this year’s Pakistan Super League (PSL) against the likes of some of the best batsmen in the world. He has carried his form into the Pakistan Cup as well as he recently took a 5-wicket haul against the Federal Areas which shows he is ready to take up the challenge.
Furthermore, Wahab has always been a decent batsman in the Pakistan team as the batting unit is quite unpredictable. With Amir, Shinwari, and others out of form, Wahab could be the ideal pacer to accompany the players in England this year.
