Containing a rich history, Mumbai Indians, the three-time champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL), have registered their 100th victory in the IPL. The exciting franchise is the first team to achieve this feat in the biggest T20 carnival of the country.
The men in blue produced a stunning display to break the winning streak of the defending champions Chennai Super Kings. While Mumbai looked to fall short of a competitive total, late strikes from Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard allowed them to post 170 runs on the board.
In reply, Chennai looked lost right from the start as early wickets dented their chances of winning the game. Middle-order batsman Kedar Jadhav produced a half-century but it was not enough to pull his side back in the game.
Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma was ecstatic to win the game in front of the home crowd. The flamboyant batsman was incredibly proud to become the first team to bag 100 IPL victories. However, he urged his teammates to continue the winning momentum as all the sides are consisting of quality cricketers.
