Rishabh Pant, the wicket-keeper batsman of India, comes across as one of the most talented cricketers of the country. While he has proved his mettle in Tests, 21-year old is yet to do well in the white-ball cricket.
In the recently concluded ODI series against Australia, Pant missed a stumping which witnessed the crowd chanting Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s name as they expect him to repeat the heroics of the masterclass cricketer.
Former World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev recently stepped forward to share his two cents on the matter. The 60-year old came to Pant’s rescue by demanding an end of comparisons encompassing Pant and Dhoni. Highlighting the services, skills and the stature of the 37-year old cricketer, the Chandigarh born added that it is extremely unfair to compare a novice with an established player.
“You can never compare anyone with Dhoni. No one can ever replace him. Pant is a talented cricketer and we shouldn’t put him under pressure by drawing comparisons between him and Dhoni,” said by Kapil Dev on the sidelines of a promotional event.
