Pakistan chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq has hinted towards giving chances to new players for making their presence felt at the World Cup.
“We are ready to give some new players a chance in the World Cup because we have a balanced side with variation in the bowling which will be important in English conditions,” Inzamam said.
Pakistan’s recent limited-overs assignment was against Australia, in which they succumbed to a 5-0 defeat. With a number of regular members of the side given a rest, ODI debuts were handed to a number of players across the series: Shan Masood, Abid Ali, Saad Ali, Mohammad Abbas and Mohammad Hasnain.
Prior to the start of the tournament, Pakistan will tour England beginning with a one-off T20I at Cardiff on 5 May before a five-match ODI series. Pakistan’s opening fixture in the World Cup will be against West Indies on 31 May.
