The 6th game of the ongoing edition of the Pakistan Cup was contested between two unbeaten teams – Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. After winning the toss, Balochistan invited KPK to have a go with the willow. Strong batting contributions from Salman Butt, Abid Ali and Adil Amin propelled KPK to a challenging total of 358.
In response, Balochistan looked equally good as they produced a scintillating start where the openers helped the unit reach 92 inside 12 overs. KPK struck back with three quick wickets but the storm overtook and the game was eventually abandoned.
While the end was disappointing for both teams but there were few noticeable performances. One of them belonged to the hard-hitting opening batsman Awais Zia who smashed KPK’s bowlers to register an unbeaten 84 of just 61 balls. The 32-year old batsman looked to be in great touch as he portrayed his aggression by bludgeoning 12 fours and a solitary six. Moreover, the strikes from KPK spiced up the game. However, rain played the role of a party spoiler as both teams had to settle for a single point.
