The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Cricket Committee, Mohsin Hasan Khan believes that Pakistan is lacking a specialized opening slot which would be a major drawback in World Cup 2019.
“Pakistan needs to have a specialized and settled opening pair which can give the team solid start in big-pressure games and here we are lacking,” Mohsin said. Pakistan’s issue with a solid and reliable opening partnership is well-documented and with Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq struggling, it would be crucial to see which two players will be opted for the opening role.
He said that quality all-rounders are vital for winning a match and stressed the need to further boost the performance of available all-rounders to win the next mega event. Mohsin believes that mental fitness was more important than physical strength for the players to perform in the mega event.
