A state of uncertainty has clouded over the current Afghanistan cricket team setup after the board announced the shocking sacking of Asghar Afghan as captain of the side. This was then followed by Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi formally protesting the decision by Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB).
In a latest turn of events, ACB Chairman Azizullah Fazli had a meeting with the former skipper Asghar recently and discussed the bubbling matter on hand. The meeting reflects the positive attitude among the parties involved and it seems Asghar is content with the last-minute leadership change and will support the new captain Gulbadin Naib.
The senior member of the team still forms a formidable middle order batsman for the side, and his experience will be crucial for Afghanistan’s chances in the forthcoming World Cup. He will thus soon be joining the national side’s training camp in South Africa and will be gelling in with his fellow compatriots.
