It’s getting really tough for the selectors as Umar Akmal has played yet another match-winning innings against the Federal Areas in the ongoing Pakistan Cup.
Akmal is now the top scorer of the tournament with 319 runs at a blistering strike rate of 139. With the ICC World Cup 2019 just around the corner, the selection committee and the management is still not sure about Akmal’s place in the tournament.
Umar wasted the opportunity of confirming his place in the ODI series against Australia but he’s turning it on in the domestic tournament.
According to the recent reports, Umar Akmal might get another chance in the ODI series against England just before the World Cup.
Balochistan batted first and after the failure of the top order, Balochistan’s middle order fired amazingly well with Asad Shafiq (72) and Ali Imran (77) steadied the ship of their team.
After that, it was again a power hitting show by Umar Akmal as he scored 77 off just 45 balls taking his team to 289.
Sadaf Hussain took 4 wickets for 46 runs. In reply, there were some notable performers for Federal Areas but nobody could take them home.
Skipper Mohammad Rizwan scored 76 off 67 whilst Ahmed Shahzad (44) and Saud Shakeel (40) got their starts but they were unable to make it big. Balochistan won the match by 28 runs.
