Pakistan’s fast-bowler, Umar Gul believes that the players selected for the World Cup squad should have played in the ongoing domestic Pakistan Cup.
“It would have been better if players who have been selected for the World Cup provisional squad had played in the Pakistan Cup as this would have been good practice for them,” said Gul, who is captaining Sindh in the tournament.
Out of the 23 players who have been called up for World Cup provisional, only Mohammad Rizwan and Abid Ali are featuring in the domestic One-Day tournament.
The 34-year-old has played 47 Tests, 130 ODIs and 60 T20Is between 2003 and 2016. Injury dogged his international career. He was regarded as a world-class pacer, particularly in limited overs cricket with his famous yorkers.
