Rohit Sharma, the captain of Mumbai Indians, missed the IPL game for the first time since 2011 in the last match when Mumbai took on Kings XI Punjab. The right-handed opening batsman had played 8 continuous seasons without missing a game.
In the absence of Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard was given the captaincy charge and he did not disappoint after he miraculously won the match for his team. Pollard chased down 198 runs with a thunderous 83 off just 31 balls.
Rohit Sharma missed out due to the injury and young Siddesh Lad was given a go. If Rohit does not recover until the next game, Pollard might continue to lead Mumbai. On the other hand, India cannot afford to lose Rohit Sharma ahead of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
