Historical bat used by Australian Army

Cricket has always been a sport and a recreational activity for Australian soldiers, they used to play it whenever it was possible for them.

A bat was discovered after the revolution which is claimed to be used by 10th Light Horse Regiment of Australian Army that took part in Egyptian rebellion back in 1919. It is made of solid wood and is still pretty much in shape.

The bat had a broken handle which was repaired by whatever could be scrounged by the men of the 10th Light Horse Regiment. It was used in spontaneous games by those manning outposts during the Egyptian rebellion in early 1919.

It shows that Aussies were well aware of the game of cricket in early times and they used to play the sport during their leisure time just for the sake of fun and amusement.
