Cameron Bancroft opens up about his ban

Following the 3rd Test between Australian and South Africa at Cape Town last year, there was dramatic change of events for the Australian cricket team. The ball-tampering incident left their team in the abyss of vilification. Cameron Bancroft, David Warner, and Steve Smith were banned after the incident.

Cameron Bancroft, whose ban expired in December 2018, was named the captain of Durham County Club before the start of the county championship. Though this decision caught people by surprise, Durham cricket had no other options.

Bancroft opened up about his ban just before his debut with the club. Grieving over his mistake, he said, "As much as I missed cricket, the opportunity it gave me to look at myself was one of the best things that ever happened to me. I had to go home, sit with myself, grieve, forgive myself, and then ultimately move forward".

"Turning that event from South Africa into a positive was something I was really proud of and to have that opportunity to grow as a person, you would be silly not to take those steps forward." he added.
