The Pakistan Cup 2019 was not very kind on the bowlers as a mountain of runs were scored almost every match. Failing to cope with the flat decks and scorching heat weather conditions in Rawalpindi, it was hard for the bowlers to extract significant swing or turn from the surface.
Nevertheless, veteran pacer Wahab Riaz was a class apart from the rest since he established brilliant levels of consistency to hamper the scoring rate of the batsmen. Bringing his vast experience to great effect, Wahab took 10 wickets in the tournament including the sole 5-wicket haul in the Cup, and also gave away runs at a miserly rate of 4.60.
Second to Wahab’s dominance was Amad Butt, who also scalped 10 wickets in the tournament but was a touch expensive going close to 7 runs an over. They were closely followed by Sindh’s Hammad Azam, who was also prolific with 9 wickets in 4 games.
