For the first time in 40 years, Australia would sit without a home ODI as India has moved the Kangaroos to reshape their 2019-20 home fixtures. In the peak of summer, Australia would tour India for a three-match ODI series.
This implies that Australia will have to drop the three-game home series against New Zealand which was meant to commence after the New Year’s Test against the same opposition.
While Cricket Australia wanted to shift the India series to a later date, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) didn’t honor the request.
However, New Zealand has shown flexibility in postponing the series as Australia’s tight schedule isn’t allowing a window. While Pakistan and Sri Lanka are also scheduled to visit Australia but both the tours would not encompass any 50-over cricket.
ODIs in Australian summer are a highly-coveted television product but the refusal of India means that there would not be any ODIs in Australia next summer.
