Cricket West Indies (CWI) has named Floyd Reifer as the new coach for the team, ahead of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s World Cup, replacing controversial Richard Pybus. The sudden change has come only seven weeks before the start of the ICC World Cup.
The entire selection panel has also been replaced, with Robert Haynes replacing Courtney Browne as interim head of selectors. Reifer has been confirmed as interim head coach, a role he previously filled on West Indies’ tour to Bangladesh last year.
"We are confident that in Mr-Haynes we have found an interim chairman who shares the philosophy of inclusiveness and shares our selection policy," Cricket West Indies (CWI) president Ricky Skerritt said. "(Reifer) has lived the same principles of West Indian excellence that we now insist must prevail in our cricket,” he added.
