Pakistani fast bowler Umar Gul used to be a regular member of the national side in all formats before suffering from a nasty knee injury in 2013 which ruled him out of the game for a good year and a half.
Before the unfortunate injury, Gul had won numerous matches for Pakistan not only with his great death bowling but with his batting too. The quick fast bowler bowled one of the most iconic spells of T20 cricket during the World T20 2009 as he decimated the New Zealand batting lineup in the quarter-final.
Gul ended up with figures of 5 for 6 runs as he became the first bowler in the history of T20 cricket to take a 5-wicket haul at the international level. The Black Caps seemed helpless in front of the speedster as he took Pakistan to the semi-finals single-handedly.
On the 35th birthday of the bowler, fans remembered one of the career highlights of Gul who wreaked havoc on the batsmen that day with his deadly yorkers.
