Cricket’s showpiece event is merely weeks away from commencement as the top 10 sides in the world battle on the field for the prized trophy. In a bid to regroup their players and direct attention towards the mega-tournament, Bangladesh is likely to recall Shakib Al Hasan from his Indian Premier League (IPL) stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The ace all-rounder is an integral part of the Bangladesh lineup, and he is thus expected to leave midway through the IPL, to participate in the World Cup preparatory camp, slated to begin on April 22. Although Shakib has not been regular presence for Sunrisers this season, owing to the long list of T20 stalwarts in action, his absence certainly deprives the bench strength of Hyderabad.
Shakib’s career of late has been prone to injuries, and he only recently recovered from a finger injury, that kept him out of the series versus New Zealand.
