Bangladesh announces squad for World Cup

After New Zealand, Australia and India, Bangladesh became the fourth team to name their World Cup squad. Courtesy of his ability to swing the ball, the uncapped pacer Abu Jayed has found a place in the final squad. However, paceman Taskin Ahmed misses out.

Other eye-catcher was the inclusion of the middle-order batsman Mosaddek Hossain who last played for Bangladesh in Asia Cup 2018 and was dropped for consistent poor shows. Nevertheless, management believes that their young gun has the skills to shine in the mega-event.

Mashrafe Mortaza will once again be leading the side as he’d be backed with senior cricketers like Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan. Bangladesh would start their World Cup campaign at Oval against a quality side like South Africa.

" The 15-man World Cup squad of Bangladesh includes the following cricketers: "

Mashrafe Mortaza (captain), Mushfiqur Rahim (wicket-keeper), Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah, Tamim Iqbal, Liton Das, Mustafizur Rahman, Mohammad Mithun, Mosaddek Hossain, Soumya Sarkar, Sabbir Rahman, Abu Jayed, Rubel Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mohammad Saifuddin
