Given the way the UAE's 2018/19 season has been hued by the climate, it appeared to be unfeelingly fitting that it should end by means of a misfortune on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method.
Zimbabwe secured a 4-0 series clean sweep at Harare Sports Club as they beat the UAE national team. It was the second match the UAE had lost after a downpour update this series – and the fourth time over the season that showers had assumed an obvious job in a critical fixture for them.
The sequence began in shameful style back in September when Hong Kong beat them to a spot in the Asia Cup, after downpour changed the course of the UAE batting innings in the Qualifier final in Malaysia.
Perhaps more ominously, UAE were denied a success against the same opposition in November by a concise shower at the Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Pakistan by three wickets.
