Indian wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik has been included in the World Cup squad of India after the selectors preferred his experience over the exuberant Rishabh Pant. The 38-year-old would be the oldest player in the Indian squad this year.
The experienced Karthik is quite excited to feature in the ICC Cricket World Cup this year while he is still aware of the kind of role he would be required to play in the side i.e., being the backup of Dhoni.
“Look, as far as MS Dhoni is concerned, I am just that small first-aid kit that will travel with the team. If he gets injured then I will be the band-aid for a day,” he said.
Meanwhile, he also appreciated the clear communication from the selectors which made him more passionate about doing well and cementing a place in the World Cup squad for India.
