Pakistan’s final squad for the ICC World Cup 2019 has seen the hugely surprising exclusion of Mohammad Amir from the 15-member list. Although this was written on the cards owing to Amir’s abysmal bowling performances for the past year and a half, but his X factor espoused through a good record in England and Wales meant that he could be considered for selection.
With the Pakistan pace attack being packed with mostly young and vibrant pacers not having much match experience such as Shaheeh Afridi and Mohammad Hasnain, former speedster Shoaib Akhtar has voiced his doubts over the lack of depth in Pakistan’s fast bowling department. The Pindi Express is concerned over any bowler ready to emerge as the leader of the pack.
With Amir not totally out of the equation as he has been selected provisionally for the England ODI series, Akhtar believes the left-armer can make a return. If this plan does not work out, Akhtar believes that either of Junaid Khan and Hasan Ali will have to show that they are worth the hype.
