Putting an end to many speculations, England Cricket Board (ECB) announced a preliminary 15-man squad for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 event. The bunch doesn’t include the skillful pacer Jofra Archer but he has been roped in the 17-man team to face Pakistan and Ireland. Safe to say that successful outings will guarantee Archer a place in the final squad for the mega-event.
Former English captain Nasser Hussain believes that the selectors have handled the 24-year old cricketer’s case extremely well by allowing him an audition for the World Cup tournament. Greatly impressed with Archer’s prowess, the Chennai born has backed him to do well against Pakistan and grab the World Cup ticket.
The cricketer turned commentator believes that it is the right way to go since it would keep all the players on their toes. Moreover, the 51-year old is seeing a healthy competition among the pacers as Liam Plunkett, Mark Wood, Tom Curran and Chris Woakes will have to bring their best game forward to cement their spot.
