The chief-selector, Inzamam-ul-Haq has admitted that all-rounder, Imad Wasim has been selected in the World Cup squad despite being him not being fully fit, following his recent performances in ODIs with the bat.
Inzamam conceded that the selectors have compromised on the fitness of some of the players like Imad and Hafeez, but since these players were part of the team over the last two years, both were picked.
“I acknowledge we gave favour to Imad despite the fact that he couldn’t get the required points in the fitness test. Imad failed to clear the fitness test as he managed to achieve just 17 points in the fitness test. But still, we are considering him because we think that he will adjust in English conditions with quite an ease,” Inzamam said.
He clarified that fitness still remained their top priority before naming the squad for the all-important event and assured that the selected players are fit enough to compete strongly in an event like the World Cup.
