Sunrisers Hyderabad recorded a prevailing victory at home against the Kolkata Knight Riders. It was the fifth successive misfortune for the Dinesh Karthik-drove side in the current year's Indian Premier League (IPL).
Chasing the total of 159 by KKR, David Warner and Jonny Bairstow propelled a counter assault on the Kolkata bowlers. Both set up a superb 131 run partnership from only 74 balls. While Warner scored 67(38), Bairstow emerged with a breathtaking 80*(43). Hitting successive sixes, he completed the match for the Sun Risers who won by 9 wickets with five overs to save.
David Warner and Bairstow also makes a unique record of 4 century stands in a season in history of T20 cricket. No opening pair has done that before. Though in real they both belong to rival teams, one from Australia and other from England but playing together from Sunrisers Heydrabad in IPL, they both are unstoppable.
They have scored four tons as partners in current IPL, 118 (77) vs KKR, 110 (58) vs RR (Rajasthan Royals), 185 (98) vs RCB (Royal Challenger Bangalore) and the latest 131 (74) vs KKR. It will take long to break such a record.
