Australian batsman Steve Smith has let go worries about his wellness and form before Australia's World Cup title defense after a match-winning thump in the Indian Premier League.
The previous Australian captain was given the captaincy of the Rajasthan Royals for the remainder of the IPL season, replacing Ajinkya Rahane, and reacted hours after the fact with an unbeaten 59 off 48 balls in a comfortable win over Mumbai Indians on Saturday.
Smith later uncovered he was two weeks from complete recovery from the elbow medical procedure he experienced recently.
"I still have to play quite heavily strapped, there's still a few issues with throwing, but I am getting there slowly. I can't throw full tilt yet but in a couple of weeks I should be able to throw at full pace, which is going to be nice," Smith said.
Smith has been named in Australia's squad for the May 30-July 14 World Cup in England and Wales.
