Including a plethora of surprise omissions and comebacks, Sri Lanka has recently announced their 15-man squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 event. Selectors believe that they have picked the best bunch of the country which is good enough to challenge the top sides of the cricketing world.
One of the key figures of this squad is the experienced cricketer Lasith Malinga who is known to raise the bar of his game in the mega-events. While many believe that the 35-year old cricketer has lost his mojo, former Sri Lankan cricketer Chaminda Vaas vouched for him.
The 45-year old sees the Mumbai Indians player as a key to Sri Lanka’s World Cup campaign. Lauding the commitment and work ethics of the Galle born, Vaas added that Malinga still sits as one of the most dangerous bowlers of the game.
Moreover, the veteran of 439 International games applauded the selectors for picking a strong squad for the forthcoming 10-team tournament which gets underway on May 30 in England and Wales. Sri Lanka’s World Cup campaign will commence on June 1 in Cardiff against New Zealand.
