Veteran Pakistani all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez suffered a gruesome injury during this year’s Pakistan Super League (PSL), after being struck on the palm of his hand trying to defend a ball in his follow-through.
Despite the initial concerns regarding Hafeez not being able to make it to the final 15-member squad, he managed to pass the fitness test in time to get selected for the World Cup.
Having reached the destination for the mega-tournament alongside his teammates, Hafeez took the initiative to promote England left-arm spinner Monty Panesar’s cricket academy on social media.
Extending best wishes to the experienced campaigner, Hafeez hoped to see Panesar’s project spring to life, and serve English cricket to the utmost benefit.
Reciprocating the kindness, the Panesar also wished Hafeez a swift recovery from his ongoing battle with the injury. He termed ‘Professor’ as a vital cog for the Pakistan lineup in the World Cup.
