Indian wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been overlooked for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) opted for the experienced Dinesh Karthik over him.
However, the youngster is still upbeat about the opportunities that await him and has moved past the World Cup snubbing. The down to earth batsman showed gratitude when he was asked to comment on his comparison with Adam Gilchrist, his cricketing idol.
“It feels really nice to be compared to someone who you have admired for years just by watching on the TV. You used to wonder how they do things on the field and then people start comparing you with them. It feels great,” he said when asked about his comparison with Gilchrist.
Moreover, he also said that having a mentor like MS Dhoni has been really helpful for him as he has learned the art of handling pressure and assessing situations from him.
