Australia’s explosive all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has earned his World Cup selection after a series of consistent and strong displays. While things weren’t smooth for him over the last 12 months, the astute cricketer did well to earn a ticket to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 event.
The 30-year old cricketer is sitting extremely confident for the forthcoming mega-event which is to commence from May 30 in England and Wales. Reliving the past 12 months and discussing his recent purple patch which includes amassing 458 runs at 41.63 with three half-centuries in the ongoing year, Maxwell shared that all this contributed in lifting his confidence for the 10-team tournament.
The Victoria born is also crystal clear about his role in the team which puts him in an ideal position to prepare well for a major tournament. Furthermore, Maxwell believes that Australia has the arsenal to defend their title.
“Making it to the World Cup squad after all the doubts provides a lot of happiness. Performing in India and Dubai also lifted my morale. All this gives me confidence for this World Cup as there’s also a bit of trust within the team to play my role,” shared by the belligerent striker.
