The Bangladesh squad announced for the upcoming World Cup in England and Wales had a surprising omission in the shape of right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed. Taskin, who had been pivotal in Bangladesh’s World Cup campaign in 2015, was overlooked for youngster Abu Jayed.
This decision had led to an emotional Taskin breaking down in public, as was witnessed in several videos circulating around the internet. However, all might not be lost for the 24-year-old as he has been selected in the national team for the tri-series in Ireland involving the hosts and West Indies.
With teams allowed to make changes to their squads one week before the World Cup, Taskin and all-rounder Farhad Reza have a chance to impress the selectors to make a spot in the mega tournament.
