Pakistan Super League’s biggest franchise, Peshawar Zalmi has been diligently working towards spreading its message of binding everyone through the sport of cricket. In addition to providing opportunities to the impoverished youthful cricketers in the country, the Zalmi Foundation is also putting in efforts for women empowerment in the region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
To shape this mission in practical terms, the Zalmi Foundation recently organized a Women's Training Camp in NCA Lahore with the cooperation of US Consulate Lahore and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), where 40 girls partook in a great learning session. These young girls were provided expert coaching in the presence of top facilities to hone their skills.
Cricketing stars including Wahab Riaz, Kamran Akmal, Umaid Asif and Muhammad Akram were in attendance. “Zalmi Foundation is working diligently towards youth and women empowerment. This initiative is to find new talent for cricket and provide these girls an opportunity so they too can enter the mainstream cricket arena,” Zalmi chairman Javed Afridi claimed.
