After the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 event, there has been a stark change in pitches of England. Flat decks are a norm where batters are usually witnessed smashing big scores. Particularly, Nottingham has been consistently producing totals around 400 in the 50-over cricket.
Pakistan is set to meet West Indies in their opening game of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 tournament and this game will be contested in Nottingham. The maroon team consists of some belligerent strikers with two of them being in the form of their lives.
Opening batsman Chris Gayle has struck 44 sixes in his last five ODI games while all-rounder Andre Russell has smashed 50 sixes already in the 11 games of this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL). Both of them are going to pose a serious threat to Pakistan on a track where conditions will be ideal for batting.
Even if Pakistan get them early, it is hard to ignore the hitting prowess of Evin Lewis, Jason Holder and Shimron Hetmyer. It would be interesting to see the plans of green shirts against a team which is full of game changers.
