Pakistan’s fast-bowler, Hasan Ali got himself in the center of controversy after claiming a catch off his own bowling that he seemed to have dropped. The incident happened during the practice match against Kent, which Pakistan comfortably won by 100 runs.
After forcing a top edge from Alex Blake, Hasan settled himself underneath what should have been a simple catch. He momentarily held onto the ball on its way down, before it continued its course to the ground. However, the pacer continued on with his famous wicket-taking celebration.
According to Law 33.3 of the ICC’s One-Day International playing conditions, a catch will be deemed completed once “a fielder obtains complete control over both the ball and his own movement”.
