Rohit Sharma fined for breach of code of conduct

Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma, who is usually known for his cool and calm demeanor, lost his cool during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens.

Rohit Sharma hit the stumps with his bat after being adjudged leg-before-wicket (LBW) after trying to loft KKR left-arm pacer, Harry Gurney. He also had a brief encounter with umpire Menon where he said something bad to the umpire, acting against the spirit of the game.

Rohit was subsequently fined 15 per cent of his match fee. He admitted to the Level 1 offence 2.2 of the IPL's code of conduct and accepted the sanction. Mumbai Indians went on to lose the game by 34 runs, despite a brilliant inning by Hardik Pandya.
