The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Monday that senior all-rounder, Shoaib Malik has been given a 10-day leave to deal with a personal issue. He is expected to rejoin the team in 10 days’ time, the decision came hours before Pakistan’s second tour game against Northamptonshire on Monday.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) stated that it will not be making any further comments and fully expects all concerned, to respect Malik’s privacy. Malik’s 10-day absence means he will not feature in the one-off T20I against England scheduled to be played on May 5 and the first of the five ODIs against the hosts on May 8.
The 37-year-old is already put under pressure by critics who point out his poor average of 13.6 with the bat from 23 innings in England. However, this year's World Cup will be his last as he has confirmed he will retire from ODIs after the tournament.
