Former Sri Lankan batsman, Kumar Sangakkara is to be named as Marylebone Cricket Club's (MCC) next president. Sangakkara will take up the post from the 1st October 2019. The veteran cricketer becomes the first non-British president of the club.
It is a great honor for Sangakkara, the man who batted like a legend in his cricketing days. Kumar Sangakkara has also played a lot of county cricket in England in the recent past. His presence as the president will mean a lot to MCC.
"It is a huge honor to be named the next President of MCC and it is a role that I am thoroughly looking forward to," Sangakkara said. "For me, MCC is the greatest cricket club in the world, with its global reach and continued progress for cricket on and off the pitch". he further added.
Sangakkara has played 134 Test matches and 404 ODI matches for Sri Lanka. His services to the cricketing world are of immense importance. Now he has another tough job ahead and he is very geared up for it.
