The Afghanistan cricket team would take part in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 under the leadership of a new captain, Gulbadin Naib, after the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) sacked Asghar Afghan right before the announcement of the squad.
The newly appointed skipper has expressed full confidence in his team as he feels that the blue shirts would do well in the tournament as they are high on morale at the moment.
“When I look at my team, we prepared very well the last couple of months. The guys have high morale, everyone is very excited to be participating in the World Cup,” said Naib.
Furthermore, he also said that the Afghan side has the ability to challenge any team in the World Cup and it should not be a surprise if they do well against top teams as anything could happen in the game of cricket.
