Former Indian opening batsman Gautam Gambhir is one of the most controversial players from India as he often gives statements that are not well received by some groups of the society.
In his autobiography, former Indian mental conditioning coach, Paddy Upton has called the left-hander one of the most mentally insecure players he ever worked with, however, he did admit that Gambhir was a great servant of Indian cricket.
“Using the popular notion of mental toughness, he was one of the weakest and mentally most insecure’ people I have worked with. But at the same time, he was undoubtedly one of the best and most determined and successful Test batsmen in the world. Something he would prove yet again in 2011 World Cup final,” he added.
In response to Upton’s statement, Gambhir has said that he always wanted to do more and more for the team and if that makes him a pessimist then the former coach should be questioned on his statement but not the cricketer.
