The only Indian to occupy a place in the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires, Sundaram Ravi, is set to be removed from the prestigious list. This omission comes just ahead of the upcoming World Cup, where he has been selected among the 16 umpires to do duty.
“The Elite panel is a tough place to survive with so much competition and high-pressure, top-level games. Ravi was lying at the bottom in the report card prepared over the last couple of years for the 12 elite level umpires,” claimed an official regarding this development.
S Ravi has been facing harsh criticism for his umpiring howlers in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), where the declining standard of umpiring has come under the scanner. This is, nevertheless, a big blow to 53-year-old’s long career.
