It has been a devastating week for England’s opener, Alex Hales, as he has been dropped from all squads of England hence his World Cup, is also over.
According to the reports, the England Cricket Board (ECB) decided to drop Hales after he failed to convince his fellow teammates in the training.
When Hales joined the squad on Saturday in Cardiff, the senior players were surprised he failed to apologize to the group.
The opener’s fate was sealed when he lost the backing of senior team-mates and, crucially, captain Eoin Morgan and coach Trevor Bayliss when the management met to decide his World Cup future.
England’s captain and coach only learned about the failed drug test after it was made public and were left furious.
They were expecting more responsibility from Hales as he has been the part of England’s setup for nearly four years and had ignored warnings to stay out of trouble and concentrate on cricket in the lead-up to the World Cup.
