Pakistan started the tour of England with back-to-back victories against Kent and Northamptonshire and now the unit sits optimistic about continuing their winning run. However, ahead of the solitary T20I against England, Pakistan has suffered a major blow.
Veteran Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Hafeez is expected to sit out of the upcoming T20I against England which would be played in Cardiff on Sunday.
As per the sources, Hafeez hasn’t fully recovered and due to this reason, management doesn’t want to take any chances with their key player. In the absence of players like Shadab Khan and Mohammad Hafeez, other members will have to raise the bar of their game to beat a top side like England.
Playing for Lahore Qalandars in the last edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the Sargodha born cricketer was injured in the second game of the tournament. After having multiple surgeries, Hafeez was found back in nets. But, he is yet to gain full fitness.
The think tank is confident of having the 38-year old back in the forthcoming five-game ODI series which is to commence on May 8 in London but an official confirmation is awaited.
