Cricket West Indies (CWI) has honored the request of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BBCI) regarding pushing forward India’s tour to West Indies by a couple of weeks. The tour was initially scheduled to kick off in July but now India would be seen starting the tour in the first week of August.
To counter this, CWI collaborated with Caribbean Premier League (CPL) as the tournament is now set to commence two weeks late.
The biggest T20 extravaganza of West Indies would now take place from September 4 to October 12. However, the full schedule of the tournament is yet to be released.
The adjustments have been made to ensure the availability of West Indian cricketers for the most loved T20 competition of the country.
Authorities were delighted to find a middle ground between the International and domestic window. Chief Operating Officer (COO) of CPL Pete Russell believes that the delayed start won’t have any impact on the charm of the tournament as they always wanted the games to include the megastars of the shortest format of the game.
