Eoin Morgan has lambasted English opening batsman Alex Hales for acting contrary to England’s team culture. Morgan’s words come at a time when Hales has been handed a 21-day ban for recreational drug use.
The England captain shed light on the controversial matter for the first time since Hales was forcibly removed from the World Cup squad.
At a press conference before the one-off ODI against Ireland in Malahide, Morgan was visibly flustered by the events that led him, alongside his teammates, to oppose Hales’ place in the team, despite his exceptional ODI record.
“We’ve worked extremely hard on our culture in the last 18 months since the Bristol incident. Unfortunately, Alex’s actions have shown complete disregard for those values. This has created a lack of trust between Alex and the team,” the English skipper claimed.
