Chennai Super Kings, one of the most consistent sides in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), continued their winning patch in the running edition of the tournament. Thumping a quality side like Delhi Capitals by 80 runs, the yellow team stamped their authority yet again.
Delhi elected to field first, after winning the toss, which proved to be a horrible decision. Complementing the good work of the top-order, Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored 44 not out of just 22 balls with Ravindra Jadeja also adding 25 quick runs.
In the second innings, the 37-year old cricketer was found putting his lightning quick reflexes on display which saw him producing three dismissals including the key wicket of Shreyas Iyer. Without any surprises, the veteran of Indian cricket bagged yet another player of the match award.
This was the 17th instance of the Ranchi born winning the man of the match award in IPL which made him the only the second Indian player to achieve this feat. Another player to do so is the opening batsman Rohit Sharma.
Moreover, it was Dhoni’s third such award in this season of India’s biggest T20 extravaganza as the genius cricketer sits adamant to win another IPL title with Chennai Super Kings.
