The most innovative batsman to play the game, AB de Villiers announced his retirement from international cricket rather unexpectedly last year. Since then, the Proteas great has been making headlines participating in various cricketing tournaments including the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the Indian Premier League (IPL).
A lengthy and intense connection with IPL through the ages, AB recently claimed that nothing comes close to the quality of cricket experienced in India’s pre-eminent league. Talking to an Indian publication, de Villiers stated that even the World Cup is inferior to what the IPL has to offer.
“Nothing comes close to the IPL, to be honest. I know I am sitting in India and busy playing in the IPL, so it’s easy to say. But I have played in quite a few (tournaments) now across the world. I think it’s better than the World Cup,” the batting maestro said.
